Definitive SNES Update!

I received the advanced copies of the replacement Definitive Complete SNES books this week and they are perfect! I'm hopeful that they will arrive in the warehouse soon. Conversely, the fixes for the first print run should be done sooner and I will have those shipped to me personally.

It's up to you if you want "fixed" books or a brand new fresh one as your replacement. It's only a few people that were affected by this, but thank you everyone for your patience and continued support.

You all keep me going and motivated!

Timeline for Replacement Books + Next Projects
almost 6 years ago – Sat, May 26, 2018 at 01:10:02 PM

We are now waiting on two different avenues of approach for the fixes. Here is the way ahead for the book replacements and future shipments:

First is the replacement order that the printing company is doing. That will take about 4-6 weeks, as per usual for a print run. So that puts things into July for the reprint of the book. I am also moving the books to a new warehouse, as the substandard shipping that some of you mentioned was unacceptable. This new warehouse promises to mitigate all the issues that I've had with packaging.

Second are the fixes of the remainder of the books with the adhesive issue. Those are being sent to a repair facility currently and should take 1-2 weeks to repair and ship back out (also to the new warehouse). That means about mid/late-June for the repairs. These books will be as good as the reprint, so whichever gets in first is what I'll be shipping out to everyone.

So both avenues are in process, which means that I have done everything I can at this point and simply have to wait on things to get done.

There are a couple of things that I'll be doing in the time being while we play the waiting game:

First off is that we will be Launching the next Kickstarter for Hidden Gaming Gems: Generation by Generation after E3 on June 15th! The plan was to launch it in May, and it has been ready for over a month, but I wanted to get the spine issues fully sorted out. Now that we have a solid way ahead, I'm ready to launch that Kickstarter. You can see the link to that project at www.hagensalley.com (in top right corner of the page) and once it launches that will be the link to the live project too. It covers Hidden Gaming Gems for every system for every generation so it will be a really cool book!

I've learned a lot from the waiting games we've had to play with this project. It is going to take some time to get all of the contributor reviews edited and the layouts into the book, so all SNES books here will be out well before Hidden Gaming Gems goes to print. The replacements will be the priority once they arrive, so no worries on that, and it won't take long to get them out to everyone once they come in!

Second, because I already have 380+ pages already formatted and written for Hidden Gaming Gems, I'm also working on the Layouts for the next book in The Complete Series and the next Video Game Culture Chronicles book concurrently. The Complete Series books take a long time to get done, so starting it now is great. People have also been asking when the next Chronicles is coming out, so another great one to work on!

So even though we are waiting on companies to get things done with the replacements, I'm still all about making progress! Let me know your thoughts and what you are most excited about.

Update on the spine issue
almost 6 years ago – Thu, May 10, 2018 at 06:15:03 PM

Talking to my printing company, they have been very forthcoming with this whole issue and are going to perform repairs on my remaining books that I have left. This should be as simple as shipping the books over to them locally, repairing and shipping back. They said it should be a couple week process.

So that means that those of you who indicate to me (via e-mail or PM here) that your spines have become ripped and are on my spreadsheet, it won't be too long before you get your replacement.

There are also a few international orders that still need to go out, as I stopped shipping once the spine error came up. I'm going to obviously be waiting until the repaired books come back so you will all be part of that shipment as well.

I know that not all of you have had this issue with the spine and thank you for all the kind words about the book! Pretty soon everyone will have their books, in the best condition possible, and I can begin to get the next book campaign ready, as I've been waiting until everyone has their books before launching the next book!

Check your Books!
almost 6 years ago – Tue, May 08, 2018 at 07:45:26 PM

Right after I shipped out over 300 books to backers, I've now had three backers get their books with a similar issue of the spine not being attached to the book.

This is obviously something that is unacceptable as not only are the books supposed to be perfect quality, but my warehouse was supposed to inspect each book prior to shipping them out.

Please let me know if yours has an issue. Heck at this point if your book is good to go that'd be nice to know.

If yours does have this issue, either message me or email me so I can properly track you. I'm going to create a tracker so I can send out replacements once I get an answer. If you just post it here in the comments, I may or may not track it.

To say that I'm angry is an understatement. Hopefully I get an answer as to what happened sooner than later.
